Abstract
Morphometric studies have been gaining increased importance in recent years. Its significance was stressed in many works for understanding differences within as well as between species. It is a useful tool in eliminating taxonomic ambiquity and in understanding the sexual dimorphishn. Statistical models describing regressions of different body lengths help in the separation of different races and stock of commercially important fishes. They also help in the correct assessment of systematics and the dynamics of the population.
