Abstract
Artificial breeding of Schizothorax richardsonii (Gray & Hard), one of the most important food fish in the upland areas of Garhwal Himalayas, was conducted at Kaldayani hatchery, located in district Uttarkashi. The artificial breeding was done by stripping method. During the course of incubation the temperature range of water was 10.0 to 14.5°C and the eggs took 215 to 265 hrs for hatching. The newly hatched young ones measured 9 mm in length.
