Abstract
The midgut region of Adoretus lasiopygus Burm. is differentiated into the pro-, meso-and metamesenteron. The histocytological characters of epithelium and regenerative crypts of these regions are studied. Besides regenerative crypts metamesenteron is equipped with pro-epithelial cells to substantiate loss of midgut epithelial cells during holocrine Secretion, Metamesenteron is a bilobed structure Functional differentiation between digestive and absorptive cells is not well pronounced. Peritrophic membrane is conspicuous.
