Abstract

The ovary in Cotylophoron indicus is round, compact, bounded by a muscular sheath. The oogonia occupy the anterior region whereas the oocytes are posteriorly located. The germinal vesicles contain prominent nucleoli rich in ribonucleoproteins. The nucleolar extrusions are generally seen in the ooplasm, where they get ultimately diffused. Eggs are filled with yolk granules containing proteins, phospholipids and polysaccharides.
